I really liked having a window that we could open for fresh air. There was plenty of hot water and it was lovely to have a bathtub to relax in.

It was directly on the river which, as we were arriving by boat, was an excellent plus for us!!

The quality of the food could have been better - my husband had lemon meringue pie for dessert and it was very disappointing - no big fluffly meringue.

Rooms well maintained and very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful - hotel set in lovely grounds and in good location on outskirts of Bedford so peaceful but accessible to shops etc

the service was very good and the hotel was warm welcoming and comfortable

Very nice hotel situated in calm and peaceful surroundings on the banks of a picturesque stretch of river. Nice size room which was very well equiped + good quality bedding and towels. Plenty of parking and very pleasant outside space. We dined at the hotel in the evening - food good with varied menu and first rate service. Huge choice at breakfast, everything you could think of! Staff extremely helpful and polite. Would definately book again

The staff were really friendly and facilitating. We arrived early and that wasn't a problem. We didn't realise the check out time and thought it was 12pm when it was 11am and they rang the room but were not rude and just to tell us but so we knew to do our best to vacate but told us not to worry. Overall nice location, nice room and really nice staff.

Comfortable friendly surroundings, nice airy room with comfortable beds and good facilities, varied menu of high quality food served on hot plates (as appropriate), dining facilities pristine and service excellent, complimentary newspaper. We asked for a quiet room on the back and got one, however the distance from the road probably meant we would not have been too bothered by traffic noise.

The breakfast menu did not appear to include fish. We didn't ask but these days with an emphasis on healthy eating we think it should be offerred. The wedding party the night before had left bottles and a take- away meal on a bench near the entrance - we thought these should have been tidied up before guests rose for breakfast.

staff went out of there way on arrival and were very friendly with my 8 year old daughter. we had booked a twin room but were shown to a double room which i did not mind at all but the member of staff advised me to take the twin room as originally booked as the bed is so much bigger! nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome. Also we were late getting up the next day and only just made it for breakfast with barely 2 minutes to spare and again nothing was too much trouble the waitresses/dining room staff were very obliging.

during the evening before i felt that the lady serving behind the bar was not particularly friendly or helpful.

The hotel looked nice and was in a somewhat secluded location.

There was a wedding fair at the hotel during our weekend stay, as a consequence we could not eat in the restaurant at any point during our stay as the rooms were filled with wedding stalls. We had to drive around the town centre for an hour trying to find a restuarant. Our bedsheets were also stained.

the staff were very welcoming, and did everything possible to make our stay special Our room was lovely.

There was no area suitable for relaxing in comfort with a quiet drink. We didnot know until we arrived that there was 2 weddings on that day.We felt we where sidelined foe the weddings.

The evening meal was good although the 'specials' were the same on both evenings. Restaurant staff in the evening were very good particularly Sarah, as she 'knew' the menu, portion sizes etc which helped us to make good choices. The location, on the river, was lovely.

I thought the breakfast service was indifferent, staff did not seem concerned and did not respond very quickly to requests. 1st morning was very quiet and there were sufficient staff the 2nd morning, have seen other hotels serve breakfast efficiently on less staff. Perhaps this is a training issue, as evening staff were so good? All service seems to run from the 'till' in the restaurant and these staff got drinks from the bar. I noticed on the guest reviews that residents are moved to function rooms when there is a wedding on, fortunately this did not happen to us, as we stayed midweek, but I would avoid weekends at this hotel for that reason.

The hotel is clean and comfortable.

Stayed on a Saturday night. The restaurant was in use for a wedding, consequently we were seated in a hot, stuffy drab meeting room for our evening meal. The food was acceptable but grossly overpriced. Had to wait for 20 minutes at the bar for a drink as there was only one staff member to serve hotel guests and the wedding party. I would like to point out that the staff were doing their best to make up for the situation that the management had left them in.

  • Family with children

I and my family enjoyed our stay. The meal we had with other menbers of my family one evening was excellant though the service was a little slow especially as 3 children were present. Overall we were very happy with the hotel.

Beautiful location on river. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bathroom was spacious and very well fitted out.

Food good, but very expensive (e.g. £12 fish and chips). Lots of wedding parties and was woken up one morning at 1:30 am with singing in the corridor!
